Inishbofin is an extraordinary place. This small island,of 4 by 5 km, lies at the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean off the west coast of Connemara. It is a serene place, untouched by the madness of the world. The nature is breathtaking, and the people are warm and welcoming. It’s no wonder this island has become my home.

INISHBOFIN ISLAND

I first came to Inishbofin in 2023 to play traditional music in Murray’s. That’s where I met my partner, Colman, who was born and raised on the island. By discovering farming work with his sheep and his father’s, Paddy-Joe, I fell in love with the timeless art of working with wool.

We are fortunate to have a wonderfully rich community of artists, craftspeople, musicians, singers, and other passionate souls of all kinds.

Here, where the rhythm of the sea, the seasons, and the community shapes everyday life, sheep roam freely across the hills. The wind of the Atlantic, the sound of waves, birds and traditional music has been a very inspiring place to create my small business.

It felt only natural to imagine a project connected to this place, to the farmers, the shearer, and the animals. I quickly felt supported in this journey. Experiencing a sense of becoming one with the land and the living beings around me is something truly beyond words.

Inishbofin is more than just the place where I live – it is the heart of my inspiration, the source of my wool, and the soul behind my craft.
